Two weeks, three countries. On the Kruger & Mozambique group trip in a 4x4 Overland Truck, plenty of adventure awaits. Safari in Kruger National Park and Hlane Game Reserve in Eswatini with rhino tracking and wildlife observation is just as much a part of it as scenic highlights along the Panorama Route with the Blyde River Canyon, Bourkeâs Luck Potholes, and Godâs Window. In Mozambique, the days lead to the beaches of Xai Xai, Vilanculos, and Inhambane, with snorkeling around Magaruque Island in the Bazaruto Archipelago and relaxed coastal days at the Indian Ocean. Accommodation is in tents or comfortable lodges.
Mozambique Explorer - Africa Safari
Camping or lodge safari for travelers who want to experience Africa intensively. This overland journey combines game drives, coastal stays, and simple everyday encounters. The focus is on diverse landscapes, wildlife observations, and active days in a 4x4 overland truck. Accommodation is provided, depending on the option, in tents or selected lodges. The route is ideal for explorers who want to combine safari, nature, and sea in one trip.
Daily program: Overland through South Africa, Eswatini and Mozambique
Day 1: Johannesburg - Eswatini
Your Africa group trip begins in the emerging African metropolis of Johannesburg. We leave the city of Johannesburg behind and make our way 400 kilometers to Eswatini (formerly Swaziland), to the Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary (the oldest nature reserve in Eswatini), where we will reside for the next two nights. On the way, we pass through the picturesque Mpumalanga. The province of Mpumalanga in northern South Africa is known for its scenic beauty. Included meals: Lunch, Dinner.
Day 2: Eswatini
This morning, after breakfast, there is an opportunity to explore an intertwined network of 9 hiking trails through Mlilwane, with the guide. The various paths differ in difficulty, and there is something for everyone. During this hike, the unique landscape can be admired, and animals such as antelopes or wildebeests can also be seen along the way. After lunch, the afternoon is free. Mlilwane has a lot of activities and adventures to offer in the Ezulwini Valley. Included meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner. Included highlights: guided hike in the morning.
Day 3: Eswatini
Today we can look forward to the first safari on our group trip to Africa. After a delightful breakfast, we set off for a large reserve, namely the largest in Eswatini, the Hlane Game Reserve, thus leaving Milwane. The most well-known animal species include elephants, rhinos, lions, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, and a variety of bird species. The reserve consists of open savannas, dense forests, and dry rivers, covering an area of 30,000 hectares and offers an unforgettable Africa Safari experience amidst the untouched wilderness of Eswatini and is a must for any visitor wanting to experience the fascinating wildlife and landscapes of Africa. Day 4: Xai Xai, Mozambique
We leave the picturesque Eswatini on our adventure trip and cross the border into Mozambique (a former Portuguese colony), where we reach Xai Xai in the afternoon. The city is known for its beautiful white beaches on the Indian Ocean and its colonial-era culture. We take a walk on the beach, where we not only gain insight into local life but also get to embrace the ocean in all its splendor. Included meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner.
Day 5: Vilancous
After we have gotten out of bed and enjoyed a hearty breakfast, we make our way north. The impressive adventure journey through the southeastern corner of Africa reaches the coastal town of Vilanculos. Vilanculos is located on the southern coast of Mozambique, on the shores of Vilanculos Bay, which is part of the Indian Ocean. The town is surrounded by beautiful white sand beaches, palm-fringed coastlines, and clear turquoise water. Moreover, from here, one can explore the islands of the Bazaruto Archipelago, go snorkeling, diving, fishing, or simply enjoy the breathtaking beauty of the surroundings. With its vibrant local culture, Vilanculos embodies its diverse marine life and picturesque dhow safaris, tropical tranquility, and adventure. Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. Day 6: Vilanculos - Island tour Magaruque
After the delicious breakfast, we set off for the island of Magaruque. We board a traditional dhow and sail away. We will spend the day exploring the island, snorkeling, and enjoying the beaches of this island paradise. Sunscreen and swimwear are a must today, as the day consists of plenty of sun, sand, sea, and discoveries. In the afternoon, we return and leisurely enjoy the rest of the day, as well as a well-deserved night's rest. Included meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner. Included highlights: full-day exploration of the island of Magaruque (with dhow ride). Optional activities: ocean safaris, quad tours, scuba diving, snorkeling, and more.
Day 7: Inhambane and Barra Beach
Our adventurous group trip, full of safari and beach holiday, takes us to the picturesque palm-lined beaches of the Inhambane district for two days of relaxation and enjoyment by the sea. We drive along the charming Mozambican coast back south, passing many impressive villages and plantations of coconut palms, cashew trees, and sugar cane. Inhambane is a historic town characterized by Portuguese colonial charm. Known for its rustling palms and quiet beaches, the city offers an appealing mix of African and colonial architecture. It is the gateway to diving hotspots like Tofo Beach, which is also famous for sightings of whale sharks and manta rays. Included meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner. Day 8: Inhamban
The vacation feeling calls, because today we have the opportunity to relax and enjoy the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. The beaches of Barra are safe for swimming and the diverse reefs along this coastline offer excellent opportunities for diving and snorkeling. Adventurous spirits have the chance to sign up for many optional activities. Included meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner.
Day 9: Inhmban - Tofo
Today begins after breakfast, with a short drive to Tofo. We will spend the day enjoying another famous and picturesque beach destination in Mozambique. Tofo is perfect for a day trip with safe swimming, a charming local market, and a variety of good beach bars. A second beach day not only gives us the opportunity to make the most of the activities offered, but it also gives us some flexibility to adapt to the weather. Included meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner. Optional activities: ocean safaris, quad tours, scuba diving, snorkeling, and more.
Day 10: Maputo
We leave the days of beach holidays and the white dream beaches of the Indian Ocean behind us and continue our adventure-filled group trip to Africa. Today we reach Maputo, the bustling capital and largest city in Mozambique. Maputo is a vibrant cool city, the African metropolis is truly impressive and offers a cultural diversity with varied architectures and an interesting history, and a visit to the city would not be complete without a market stroll through the countless markets of the city. To be honest: big cities are more or less all the same (one thinks), but Maputo is a somewhat atypical African metropolis, with the heartbeat of the Mozambicans. A smile, a life, that is Africa. Day 11: Mozambique to Kruger National Park, Africa Safari
We say goodbye to Mozambique, as our group trip in southeastern Africa returns to South Africa. The way leads to Kruger National Park, the largest national park in Africa, calling us with unique and unforgettable safari experiences. This evening, we will enjoy a sunset game drive through the Nkambeni Reserve and hope to see as many animal species as possible. Included meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner. Day 12: Kruger National Park
Today is all about pure safari. We get up early to spend the day in the national park. The Kruger National Park is home to the famous members of the Big 5: lions, elephants, buffalo, leopards, and rhinos, and the further abundance of wildlife and flora offers us opportunities for unforgettable sightings. A game drive gives us the excitement of experiencing the national park from an open 4x4 vehicle. In the afternoon, we return to camp, and after a short break, there is the possibility to participate in an optional sundowner game drive. Included meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner. Day 13: Panorama Route
Our impressive and unforgettable adventure group trip is coming to an end. Today we set off a little later, after a relaxed breakfast, on our way to the Panorama Route. Along the embankment that separates the central plateau from the low-lying bushland of Kruger, the multitude of sights on the Panorama Route offers us a day full of scenic impressions. Before we return to the camp in the afternoon, we will visit the highlights of Bourkes Luck Potholes (waterholes formed by erosion), the Three Rondavels (rock formations that look like traditional round African huts), and God's Window (a viewpoint and photo spot with a unique view over the Blyde River Canyon). In the evening, there is still the option for a final optional sundowner drive. Included meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner. Day 14: Johannesburg
After the last breakfast of this unforgettable Africa group trip, we pack our safari experiences into our travel bags. Today we will return to Johannesburg, where we will arrive in the late afternoon. Here our tour ends. Countless images and memories will remain forever in our minds. Johannesburg offers a variety of sights, making an extended stay in the city highly recommendable.
